EMDR Therapy

Therapy with Kelsey offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based therapy originally developed to treat trauma. While EMDR was initially designed to help individuals process distressing memories related to traumatic events, research has since shown that it is also highly effective in addressing anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, panic attacks, and more. EMDR works by engaging the brain’s natural healing processes, allowing clients to work through negative experiences without needing to relive them in detail.

During EMDR sessions, clients focus on a specific memory or thought while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements or tactile devices like “buzzies.” This process helps the brain reprocess the memory, reducing its emotional intensity and enabling clients to move forward with greater emotional freedom.

What makes EMDR unique is its ability to address difficult emotions without requiring extensive verbal recounting, making it an effective tool for those who feel stuck or overwhelmed by their experiences. Whether dealing with trauma, anxiety, or other emotional challenges, Kelsey uses EMDR to help clients regain control of their emotional well-being and live more fully in the present.
